E and I are always joking that wherever we travel, there is some version of Walmart. Here in Taiwan, it’s the xiao bei. These nifty stores carry everything you need, and many things you never knew you needed. (i.e. flower-shaped hard boiled egg molds)
Xiao bei’s are generally open 24 hours a day. They sell the cheaper versions of most items, making buying those egg molds even more economical. Thus, we often find ourselves wandering the isles with a basket full of unneeded items at 3 am.
On the bright side, I can now play mahjong, grow a box of mushrooms, and core a pineapple, all while wearing hot pink tights…
