Secret Beach is well-known among expats living in Kaohsiung. It’s the weekend refuge of many, a frequent backdrop for Taiwanese wedding photos, and one of the few free places in the city to soak in the sun and go for a dip. Secret Beach is located near Siziwan behind the basketball courts of Jhongshan University and is a little hard to find unless you are with someone who knows where they are going. Once you arrive, you need to climb through the fence to get to the water. There are “no swimming” signs posted, but many people swim anyways. If you do intend to swim, use caution as sometimes the currents are strong and can push a novice swimmer into the rocks.
