Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park is one of our favorite places in the city to go for a walk. The park is split into two sections, old and new. The new section used to be a garbage dump but is quickly growing into a luscious park. The old section houses tennis courts, a baseball diamond, and a rollerskating rink. It is full of large trees and snaking paths. Neither sections of the park are ever very busy and offer a great escape from the polluted, bustling city.
Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park is located on the boundary between Nanzi District and Qiaotou District north of the city. It is easily accessible by Highway 1 on scooter. Alternatively, the MRT red line has a stop called Metropolitan Park (R21). This station is only one block away from the park entrance.
Of course, signs like these insure that E loves the place. Don’t be too worried about the cobras, though. They are very rarely seen even by the people looking for them.
